When going through the church, sound was the thing that stand out most to us. The sound really gave us different kind of feelings and moved our body around. We heared things like songs, rain, sounds from outside, our footsteps, people talking inside and the atributes like books and installations.

We recorded all the sounds and want to map this in a motion poster

Body movement
Sounds give off different kind of feelings and influence our body movement in the church. We show this with the second part of the video where you see the circles pop up and move, together with the sounds that links to it. We don’t include images, so you really focus on those sounds and you get an intense experience.

Spatial setting
The second part of the video also shows where which object is, but you need to listen carefully what the objects are. The circles represent the scales of these objects, sounds and how far they influence the space. We represent the architecture and all the stages of the church in the first part of the mapping.

Wider context of the space
The images in the mapping show how the church is positioned and how it relates to the surroundings and the other way around. We highlight all the important steps and changes through the years. With this you hear recordings from the guestbook, which show who the visitors of the church are and their change through the years. The voices go from very religious to practical and we end with cynical.
